This guide walks through the steps to add a pet bond to an existing tenancy in Keyhook, what to do if the tenancy did not originally allow pets, and how to receipt the bond payment once it comes through your bank feeds.

Steps to Add a Pet Bond to an Existing Tenancy

Follow these steps to add a pet bond to an existing tenancy in Keyhook.

1
Open the Property

From the dashboard, click Properties and select the property the tenancy is linked to.

2
Click Set Up Tenancy

From the property overview page, click Set Up Tenancy to begin updating the tenancy.

3
Select Step 2 of the Tenancy Setup

Click through to Step 2 of the tenancy setup, where bond details are recorded.

4
Enter the Pet Bond Details

Enter the pet bond amount along with any relevant notes or supporting information against the tenancy.

5
Save the Changes

Click Save to confirm the pet bond has been added to the tenancy.

How to Confirm Success

A pet bond has been successfully added when it appears in the bond details against the tenancy with the correct amount. If a tenancy variation was also required, this should be recorded against the tenancy alongside the bond.

Is a tenancy variation needed?
If the tenancy did not originally allow pets, you will also need to complete a tenancy variation specifying that the tenants are now permitted to have a pet at the property. This ensures the change is properly reflected on the tenancy agreement. The full step-by-step is here: Tenancy variation process

Tip
Once the pet bond has been added to the tenancy, you will be able to receipt the payment when it comes through your bank feeds. The step-by-step on receipting general and pet bonds (including how to reconcile both in a single transaction) is here: Receipt a general bond
