Manage Tenancies on a Property
Overview
To manage a property's tenancies, open the property → use the Choose a Tenancy selector to switch between them → open the Pending Tenancy card to preview, edit or cancel a tenancy your tenant hasn't accepted yet. To add or remove a draft, go to Actions → Edit property → the Tenancies tab and use Prepare new tenancy or the trash icon.
Switch between the property’s tenancies
Note: The Choose a Tenancy card only appears once a property has more than one tenancy. A single-tenancy property shows that tenancy's cards directly, so there's nothing to switch between.
View and manage a pending tenancy
Note: Once your tenant accepts, the tenancy is no longer pending — the Pending Tenancy card disappears and the Edit tenancy and Delete tenancy buttons go with it, so make any changes before they accept.
Prepare another tenancy
Delete a draft tenancy
Note: Only Draft tenancies can be deleted — for a pending, active or ended tenancy the trash icon is greyed out (tooltip “Only draft tenancies can be deleted.”). Deletion is irreversible, and Keyhook blocks it if the draft still has attached maintenance requests, inspections or documents.
Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I see the Choose a Tenancy selector?
It only appears once a property has more than one tenancy. With a single tenancy the property page shows that tenancy directly, so there's nothing to switch between.
What’s the difference between a draft and a pending tenancy?
A Draft is still being set up and hasn't been sent to anyone — delete it from Edit property → Tenancies. A Pending tenancy has been sent and is waiting for your tenants to accept — preview, edit or cancel it from the Pending Tenancy card until they do.
Why is the trash icon greyed out?
Only draft tenancies can be deleted. Once a tenancy is pending, active or ended the trash icon is disabled (tooltip “Only draft tenancies can be deleted.”). To finish an active tenancy, give notice instead — see Ending a Tenancy.
Can I delete a tenancy after the tenant has accepted?
No. Once accepted, the tenancy is active (or upcoming) and can't be deleted. To finish it, give notice — see Ending a Tenancy.
How do I add a second tenancy to the same property?
Open Edit property → the Tenancies tab, open the tenancy selector and choose Prepare new tenancy, then complete it (see Set Up a Tenancy).
