Frequently asked questions
Why does a tenant need a bank account on file?
It's the account Keyhook pays money back into when the agency refunds the tenant — for example returning a credit balance or overpaid rent. Without valid details on file, those refunds can't be paid out.
Is the bank account number required?
No — you can save a tenant profile without one. But you'll need valid details before Keyhook can refund money to the tenant, and if you do enter a number it must be a valid NZ bank account number.
What format does the account number need to be in?
The standard NZ format — 00-0000-0000000-00 (bank, branch, account and suffix). Keyhook checks the number is valid when you save.
Where else can I see or change these details?
The account shows on the Tenant Details page and inside the tenant's name popover in the tenancy's Tenants table (click their name) — there's no dedicated Bank Account column. You change it from the same Edit window, which also holds the tenant's other contact details — see Manage Tenant Details.
