The Rent Review Process
Overview
To stay on top of rent reviews, set a Rent review date when you set up the tenancy → watch the Rent Reviews Due stat on your Dashboard → when one falls due, open the tenancy and review the rent with the owner → then either change the rent or push the review date out to restart the cycle.

If you're changing the rent
Note: Under NZ tenancy law you can increase the rent at most once every 12 months and must give tenants at least 60 days' notice; Keyhook defaults the effective date to a compliant one. (See Change the Rent for the full walkthrough — reductions, undo and history.)

Frequently asked questions
What does Smart-Calculate do?
It works out a recommended review date from the last rent change: enter the Date of last rent change and Keyhook sets the review date to 12 months minus 100 days later — early enough to review and serve the required 60 days' notice before you could next raise the rent.
Can I change the rent review date later?
Yes. Open the tenancy and click Edit on its Rent Review panel (the Edit Rent Review Date window), or go back through Set Up Tenancy → Dates.
When does a tenancy count towards Rent Reviews Due?
When it's active (including periodic or awaiting its start date) and its rent review date is today or earlier.
Does setting a review date change the rent automatically?
No — the review date is only a reminder. The rent changes only when you action a rent change and send the notice.
