Customise Navigation Bar

Overview

The navigation bar runs down the left of Keyhook. Click Collapse Menu to shrink it to icons → turn on Show menu on hover in your user menu so it only expands when you point at it → use Expand All / Collapse All to show or hide the sub-menus → long-press and drag an item to reorder it → and open a property to get a quick-links panel for jumping around it.

Collapse and expand the menu
1
Shrink the menu to icons
At the top of the navigation bar, just under the Keyhook logo, click Collapse Menu. The bar narrows to just the icons, giving the page more room.
2
Bring the labels back
Click the same button — now labelled Expand Menu — to widen the bar and show the item labels again.

Note: The Collapse Menu button is desktop-only, and it's hidden while Show menu on hover is turned on. Your choice is saved in that browser, so it doesn't carry across to another device or browser.

Show the menu only on hover
1
Open your user menu
At the bottom of the navigation bar, click your name and avatar to expand the user menu.
2
Turn on Show menu on hover
Switch on Show menu on hover. The bar now stays collapsed to icons and expands automatically whenever you move your pointer over it, then collapses again when you move away.
3
Turn it off to go back
Switch Show menu on hover off to return to the manual Collapse Menu / Expand Menu button.

Note: This is a desktop-only setting saved in your browser. While it's on, the manual Collapse Menu button disappears because hovering handles opening and closing for you.

Show or hide the menu's sub-items
1
Open every sub-menu at once
Above the menu items, click Expand All to open every item that has a sub-menu — such as Financials or Inspections — so all their links show at once.
2
Tuck them away again
Click the same button — now Collapse All — to close the sub-menus and keep the bar short.

Note: Expand All / Collapse All only appears while the bar is full-size. When the bar is collapsed to icons, hover an item that has a sub-menu (such as Financials or Inspections) and a small fly-out panel of its links pops out — that's how you reach sub-items without expanding the bar.

Reorder your navigation items
1
Pick up an item
Press and hold a top-level item for about half a second until it lifts off — it turns semi-transparent to show it's grabbed.
2
Drop it in a new spot
Drag it up or down the bar and release it where you want it to sit.

Note: The new order is saved in your browser and stays that way next time you visit. It reorders the top-level items only, not the links inside a sub-menu, and — like the other menu settings — it lives in that browser rather than on your Keyhook account.

Jump around a property from the menu
1
Open a property
Open any property. A panel appears at the top of the navigation bar showing the property address and, when a tenancy is selected, a tenancy summary line beneath it.
2
Use the quick links
Click Property Overview, Tenancy Overview, Set Up Property, Set Up Tenancy or Owner to jump straight to that part of the property.

Note: The tenancy shown is the property's active (or currently selected) tenancy — the Tenancy Overview and Set Up Tenancy links only appear once the property has a tenancy.

Frequently asked questions

The Collapse Menu button has disappeared — where did it go?

You've most likely turned on Show menu on hover. With that on, the bar collapses and expands as you hover, so the manual button is hidden. Turn Show menu on hover off in your user menu to bring it back. The button is also desktop-only, so you won't see it on a narrow or mobile screen.

Will my menu layout and settings follow me to another computer?

No. The collapsed state, the Show menu on hover setting and your custom item order are all saved in the browser you set them in, not on your Keyhook account — so each browser or device starts fresh.

Can I open a menu item in a new browser tab?

Yes — hold Ctrl (or Cmd on a Mac) and click a menu item, or click it with your middle mouse button, and it opens in a new browser tab.

Why don't I see the property quick-links panel?

That panel only shows while you're inside a property. The Tenancy Overview and Set Up Tenancy links within it appear only once that property has a tenancy.
