Release Held Funds

Overview

To release a held transaction, open FinancialsBank Feeds → the Held tab, find the transaction and open its three-dot menu → Release funds, choose whether to record it under today's date or its original date, then click Release funds. The transaction moves back to your To Review tab, ready to reconcile.

Release a held transaction

1
Open the Bank Feeds screen
From the left sidebar, click Financials and then Bank Feeds.
2
Open the Held tab
At the top of the screen, click the Held tab. It lists every transaction currently paused in holding, with a count of how many there are.
3
Find the transaction
Locate the transaction you want to release in the list — use the sort and filter controls if the list is long.
4
Start the release
Click the three-dot menu on the right of the transaction row and choose Release funds. The Release held funds window opens.
5
Choose which date to record it under
Pick Use today's date to record the transaction in the current period, or Keep original date to keep the date it was paid. The window shows both dates so you can compare them. The confirm button stays disabled until you choose one.
6
Release the funds
Click Release funds. The transaction is released and moves to your To Review tab, ready to reconcile like any other transaction.

Note: If you choose Keep original date and that date falls outside the current month, Keyhook warns that the transaction will be recorded in a prior period, which affects owner statements. Use today's date unless you have a specific reason to keep the original.

Put a transaction on hold
1
Open the To Review tab
On the Bank Feeds screen, open the To Review tab and find the transaction you want to set aside.
2
Hold the funds
Click the transaction's three-dot menu and choose Hold Funds. The transaction moves to the Held tab and pauses there until you release it.

Note: Holding a transaction keeps it out of reconciliation until you release it — a held transaction can't be reconciled.

Frequently asked questions

How do transactions end up in the Held tab?

Someone holds them. On the To Review tab, a transaction's three-dot menu has a Hold Funds action that moves it to Held, where it stays paused until it's released.

Should I use today's date or keep the original date?

Use Use today's date in most cases, so the transaction is recorded in the current period. Only choose Keep original date if you specifically need the original payment date — and if that date is in a previous month, Keyhook warns you it will record the activity in a prior period and affect owner statements.

Where does the transaction go after I release it?

It returns to the To Review tab as an ordinary unreconciled transaction. From there you reconcile it the same way you would any incoming transaction.

Can I release funds if I'm not a finance user?

No — releasing held funds requires finance permissions. You must be a global finance user or a Principal to release. Property managers without finance permissions can view the Held tab but can't release the funds there; a finance or Principal user has to perform the release.

Does the date window always appear?

Yes — every time you release a held transaction, the Release held funds window opens so you can confirm the date it's recorded under. The prior-period warning only shows if you keep an original date that falls in an earlier month.
